Those mod heroes The Small Faces were on two of the seven tours featured in Legends - a 1966 jaunt with The Hollies, Paul and Barry Ryan and special guest Paul Jones, and a 1967 UK tour with Roy Orbison.
In many ways they were the ultimate rock 'n' roll heroes. Searchers guitarist John McNally points out that Steve Marriott might not even turn up for a gig if there was something good on the telly or if he preferred a night at the pub. Unthinkable if you were a Searcher, but a true rebel spirit if you were in The Small Faces. Mind you, facing tough guy manager Don Arden the next day wouldn't have been much
fun! Legends includes the full drama of the opening night of their 1966 tour when they walked out in an apparent row with The Hollies over who should top the bill.
Sadly, neither Marriott or Ronnie 'Plonk' Lane are with us any more, but drummer Kenney Jones, who now owns Hurtwood Park Polo Club in Ewhurst, Surrey, talks of Arden, touring, mad fans and mad clothes during his interview.
Kenney, who went on to drum for The Faces and The Who, recalls those 1960s pop tours with some fondness.
He described them as being like mini Live Aids - such was the diverse collection of talent that would share a stage during the evening.
The Small Faces were big scream heroes during those cinema tours and they remain today one of the most respected groups from the era. They lived the rock 'n' roll dream in true rock 'n' roll style.
This photo is of The Small Faces on stage during their 1967 tour with Roy Orbison and Paul and Barry Ryan. Settlers singer Cindy Kent and three members of The Searchers recall their memories too.
There is a great new website dedicated to The Small Faces. Check it out at http://www.rollinover.com/
